DIY Fixes:
Turn off power and using a flashlight check for and remove anything that may be stuck in the garbage disposal.
Turn the breaker power back on, and press the reset button located on the garbage disposal unit under your sink. Still not fixed? Here are some guideleines tio help you decide if professional help is in order.
When To Call A Pro:
Leaks: You see water pooling under your sink or dripping.
Frequent Clogs: If it keeps clogging despite proper use, your motor might be slowly dying, the blades may not be sharp, either way it's time for a replacement.
Noises: You hear grinding, rattling, or low humming (when turned on). This usually means there ar stuck items (bones, forks, etc.) or worn-out parts like blades.
Electrical Problems: IS the garbage disposal constantly tripping the circuit breaker or not turning on? You might have internal electrical faults.
Humming but Not Grinding: A loud hum and no grinding means the motor can't turn on and is mostly likely jammed or on its last legs.
Slow Drainage: If it drains slowly even after clearing visible debris, there's a blockage or issue.
